JOBRIVER founder Andrzej Fink talks to WELT about IT system architecture and AI

An in-depth interview with Andrzej Fink, founder and managing director of the IT job portal JOBRIVER, has been published on the WELT corporate portal (unternehmen.welt.de) under the title “Good software isn’t created on a screen, but through an understanding of the processes behind it”. In the interview, Fink discusses IT system architecture, the importance of artificial intelligence in software development and the German digital economy.

As the technical lead, Andrzej Fink is responsible for the system architecture of several growing digital companies and has over fifteen years’ experience in IT and web development. With JOBRIVER, he has built up a specialised job board with tens of thousands of registered developers.

Thinking in terms of systems rather than individual tasks

When asked how one maintains technical responsibility across several companies simultaneously, Fink emphasises the principle of system architecture:

“By stopping thinking in terms of individual tasks and starting to think in terms of systems. My job isn’t day-to-day operations. My job is to build the structures within which day-to-day operations run without me. If a system is designed properly, it absorbs complexity in the background rather than passing it on to the outside world.”

Good software, says Fink, isn’t created on a screen, but stems from a deep understanding of what actually happens within a company – from operational processes to the points where friction arises.

Speed as a strategic competitive advantage

Fink takes a clear stance on the issue of implementation speed:

“For me, speed is a strategic competitive advantage. I’d rather start today at eighty per cent than in six months’ time at one hundred. Most companies don’t fail because they have bad ideas. They fail because they’re too slow. Markets don’t wait.”

The key, he says, is to start early and then systematically improve systems as they are put into operation. This allows bottlenecks to be identified and resolved early on, before they slow down growth.

AI as a tool, not an end in itself

Fink takes a clear stance on the role of artificial intelligence in software development:

“For me, AI is a tool for increasing efficiency, not an end in itself. AI-powered tools now handle routine tasks that used to take hours. What AI cannot replace is conceptual thinking, an understanding of complex interrelationships, and architecture. Someone still has to decide what should be built in the first place and why. This role is becoming more important, not less.”

Building good systems for the long term

For Fink, sustainable success stems less from more work than from better structures: “Success does not come from more work, but from better systems that add up over time. Patience in the long run and pace in day-to-day business – that is not a contradiction, but the combination that matters.”
