    Methodology

    How the check calculates.

Open and verifiable. The salary check is your personal view, the salary comparison the big market overview across all 69 roles.

    1. Distribution per role. Entry (P10), median and top (P90) from job ads with a stated salary and verified salary records – 12,572 data points in total.
    2. Experience level. The distribution is scaled by the level factor: average salary of the level ÷ mid-level, from active ads. With fewer than 8 ads, a typical market factor applies.
    3. Percentile. Your salary is placed linearly between the anchors (1 % · 10 % · 50 % · 90 % · 99 %). Below 35 % counts as “below market”, 35–59 % as “market rate”, 60–84 % as “above market”, from 85 % as “top”.
    4. Levers. Region: ratio of each salary record to the median of its role, per federal state. Skills: median with vs. without the technology within your role. Both only from 20 values per group.
    5. Privacy. Your salary is processed exclusively in your browser. It never appears in the address, is not sent and is not stored.

    FAQ

How does the salary check work?

    Anything else? Write to us.

Where does the salary data come from?

From real, active IT job listings on Jobriver plus verified manual data points. For each role we compute the distribution (entry, median, top) – no values are estimated or made up.

    How is my percentile calculated?

We place your salary into the real salary distribution for your role and seniority. The percentile shows the share of comparable professionals your salary exceeds.

    How does seniority factor in?

Junior, Mid, Senior and Lead differ significantly. We derive the level factors from real listings per seniority and scale the distribution accordingly.

    Are my inputs anonymous?

Yes. The calculation runs entirely in your browser. We store neither your salary nor your inputs.

What do P10, median and P90 mean?

P10 is the entry level: 10% earn less, 90% earn more. The median is the middle (exactly half earn more, half less). P90 is the top level: only 10% earn more.

Should I enter gross or net salary?

Enter your annual gross salary, since job listings also state gross figures. You can then work out your net pay with our gross-to-net calculator.

Do bonus, equity or 13th salary count?

The market data is based on the base salaries stated in listings. Variable parts such as bonus, stock options or a 13th month are usually not included – for a fair comparison, strip them out.

    How current are the figures?

The distributions are updated continuously from active listings. So you always see the current market, not an outdated annual study.

I am underpaid – what can I do?

Use your benchmark as a factual basis for your salary negotiation, or compare open, better-paid roles. With a job alert you get notified as soon as matching positions are posted.

Why is my exact role not listed?

We group similar titles into comparable roles so each group has enough data for reliable figures. Pick the role closest to what you do.
