Method & citation

Transparency is the foundation of any reliable statistic. Here we document how the metrics in this report are produced and where the data comes from.

  1. Data basis. The data basis of this report is all IT job listings active on jobriver.de as of the reference date. The distributions by work model, experience level and location are analysed directly from the job listings. The salary data is aggregated from job listings with salary information (81,5 % of all jobs) as well as editorially maintained salary sources. All metrics are updated continuously.
  2. Monthly editions. The current month is analysed live (cached hourly). The last state of each month is kept as an archive edition – this is what the trends in this report are built from.
  3. Stock, not new listings. Active ads on the reference date are counted. If the figure falls, this can also be due to older ads expiring or being removed.
  4. Plausibility check. A monthly technology ranking is considered unusable if the top technology appears in fewer than 3 % of all jobs. We omit such months instead of estimating them.
  5. Cities. Only jobs with a fixed location; fully remote jobs are not included in the city ranking.
  6. Salaries. Ranges per role from the IT salary comparison (jobs with a stated salary plus editorially maintained sources); the monthly range is the average of the advertised lower and upper limits.

Yes. Data and charts are licensed under CC BY 4.0 and free to use with attribution – you can copy the ready-made citation above.

Where does the salary data come from?

From job ads with a stated salary (81,5 % of all jobs) and editorially maintained salary sources of the IT salary comparison.
